A professional poker player, Englishman Sam Grafton resisted 736 players enrolled in the 301j2j
Poker Stars Main Event with a buy-in worth 1.100 euros. Grafton has won the title and, also, the prize worth 117.707 euros after defeating in heads-up the Turkish Anil Olgun Ozdemir.
Grafton was, undoubtedly, the player with the greatest achievements in the field, having a solid background in online poker. He has won nearly $5 million in online tournaments and has two major tournament victories in live tournaments. He has always been an entertaining character at the gaming table, being renowned for smiling all the time and extensively speaking in live events.
“I’m an online player, that’s what I like to do: to fight against other online players. I make a living from it day by day. For me, it’s kind of a bonus to be able to go and play in a live tournament. I love Bucharest. It’s a fantastic city. I came here in a winter and I knew from that moment on that, if a live tournament is ever to be organized, I will come back. It’s a very nice place to play, and the hall has a very good atmosphere”, says Grafton.
On the last day, Grafton occupied the second place in of chips and he knew tough drawing lots would wait for him for his table position. The leader of the leaderboard, Ozdemir, was seated only two places behind him.
Eventually, Grafton and Ozdemir came face to face in the final duel. Ozdemir entered the game, leading with 3 to 1, in of chips. In addition, he had a better start and has distanced himself from his opponent. But Grafton did not give up and managed to occupy the first place. The two made a deal, leaving the amount of 7.700 euros in order to play for the title. In the end, Grafton defeated Ozdemir, when his “K-9” combination was more powerful than that of Ozdemir. “Q-J”. At the final table, the game rolled out. Seven players returned for the last day, but two of them left during the first three hands of the day. The high-roller with 2.200-euros worth buy-in within the PokerStars Festival drew 111 entries (made by 101 unique players), creating a total prize pool worth 215.340 euros.
Or Patreanu of Israel won the grand prize and the coveted trophy, awarding the prize of 55.500 euros. Patreanu, 29 years old, defeated his competition and won the biggest prize in his career. He defeated Alin Petrişor Pandilica from Romania in the final duel, one-on-one, which won the prize of 38.100 euros and the second place.

Grafton a fost, fără îndoială, jucătorul cu cele mai mari realizări în domeniu, având un background solid în poker-ul online. A câştigat aproape 5 milioane de dolari în turnee online şi mai are în palmares două victorii importante în turnee live. A fost dintotdeauna un personaj antrenant la masa de joc, fiind renumit pentru că zâmbeşte tot timpul şi vorbeşte mult în evenimentele live.
„Sunt jucător online. Asta îmi place să fac: să mă lupt cu ceilalţi jucători online. Din asta îmi câştig traiul de zi cu zi. Pentru mine e un fel de bonus să pot să plec şi să joc într-un turneu live. Îmi place mult Bucureştiul. E un oraş fantastic. Am venit aici într-o iarnă şi am ştiut de atunci că, dacă se va mai organiza vreodată un turneu live, mă voi întoarce. E un loc foarte frumos pentru joc, iar sala are o atmosferă foarte bună,” spune Grafton.
În ultima zi, Grafton se afla pe locul al doilea ca număr de jetoane şi ştia că îl aşteaptă o tragere la sorţi dură pentru poziţia la mese. Liderul clasamentului, Ozdemir, era aşezat la numai două locuri în spatele lui.
Până la urmă, Grafton şi Ozdemir au ajuns faţă în faţă, în duelul final. Ozdemir a intrat în joc conducând cu 3 la 1, în materie de jetoane. În plus, a avut un start mai bun şi s-a distanţat de oponentul lui. Însă Grafton nu s-a dat bătut şi a reuşit să termine pe primul loc. Cei doi au făcut un deal, lăsând suma de 7.700 de euro ca să joace pentru titlu. În final, Grafton l-a învins pe Ozdemir, când combinaţia lui de „K-9” a fost mai tare decât a lui Ozdemir, „Q-J”. Ozdemir a încheiat cu două perechi, Grafton a mers pe culoare, iar Ozdemir a câştigat 96.993 de dolari.
La masa finală, jocul s-a derulat alert. şapte jucători s-au întors pentru ultima zi, dar doi dintre ei au plecat în timpul primelor trei mâini ale zilei. Traian Bostan a fost coborât de Grafton pe locul al şaptelea, cu un premiu în valoare de 18.720 de euro. Bostan a avut 12 big blind-uri şi a încheiat cu un „8-10”, iar Grafton cu un
„K-9”. Grafton a urcat în clasament şi l-a trimis pe tuşă pe ultimul jucător român.

„Am renunţat să joc profesionist în urmă cu câţiva ani şi m-am concentrat pe afacerile mele, dar îi cunosc pe toţi jucătorii. şi cred că încă mă pricep la joc,” a declarat Patreanu.
