In order to revitalize this area and to find new optics that we believe should be addressed in the future we believe we should consider a paradigm shift that should be carried out in our mindset and in our way of communicating and thinking so that in the immediate future we have the image we deserve. BIO Codrin Scutaru
Codrin Scutaru is the CEO of Public Affairs Solutions and previously served as Managing Director of the Romanian branch of McGuireWoods, an American law and public affairs group led by former Governor Jim Hodges, former vice-chair of Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign. As of January 2020, he has taken over full ownership and management of the company, which continues to operate on the Romanian market under the name Public Affairs Solutions. His why is extremely simple: we develop Romania through public affairs, we think differently and we challenge the status quo. Public Affairs Solutions has been a member of AmCham since 2007 and more recently became a member of the Romanian-French, Romanian-German, Romanian-British Chambers of Commerce and the Romanian Chamber of Commerce of Diversity.
With a degree in political science and law, a PhD in sociology and a board directorship certification from Henley Business School – University of Reading, Codrin is one of the most experienced executives in his field in Romania and Eastern Europe, responsible for implementing large-scale public affairs campaigns in areas such as private pensions, vouchers, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, the automotive industry and taxation. At the same time, he has ed major investors in setting up local operations or maintaining strategic investments in Romania.
Prior to ing McGuireWoods, Codrin gained significant experience in central istration, serving as Secretary of State at the Ministry of Labour for almost 3 years and as an advisor to the Prime Minister’s Chancellery and European Integration Advisor for 5 years. In 2013 he led the Romanian delegation to the UN General Assembly promoting an agenda related to the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities and sustainable development.
Codrin also attaches great importance to initiatives for the benefit of the community, being a member and alumnus of the Aspen Institute in Romania, Vice President of the Board of Directors of the OvidiuRO Association. Together with founding Maria Gheorghiu and Leslie Hawke, Codrin was instrumental in the adoption of the Every Child in Kindergarten Law, mobilizing public and private resources to ensure quality early education for Romania’s disadvantaged children. Codrin considers herself a feminist and fights every day for the promotion of women in society, against racism and discrimination and for education, which she considers the only real chance to overcome her own condition.
